About Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education
Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE) (Deemed to be University) formerly Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering was established in 1984 by Kalvivallal Thiru T.Kalasalingam under the trust Kalasalingam and Anandam Ammal Charities, Founder Chairman who was a freedom fighter and Philanthropist. Kalasalingam is Located at the pristine foothills of scenic Western Ghats of southern Tamilnadu. The college obtained the Deemed to be University status in 2006. The Institution has been serving the society for thirty seven long years and it caters to the needs of the students from all walks of the society. Kalasalingam offers UG programmes, PG programmes and Ph.D programmes in various disciplines of Engineering, Science, Technology and Humanities. It is the first Institution in India to introduce a special B.Tech programme in engineering for the differently able (speech and hearing impaired) students. The Institution has been re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade with a CGPA of 3.11. Six UG programmes have been accredited by NBA under Tier-1. The Institution continues to do indefatigable work in getting projects and research centers. It has received DST funding to establish the National Center for Advance Research in Discrete Mathematics.
About Kalasalingam Business School
The Department of Business Administration was established in the year 1994 and was affiliated to Madurai Kamarajar University till 2002 and then affiliated to Anna University till 2007. After the institution was declared Deemed-to-be University status by Government of India from October 2006, our department comes under Kalasalingam Academy Research and Education . Our academic programs are designed to provide graduates with cutting edge skills and attributes that make them excel in their respective field. Our Department is imbibed with modern infrastructure and technological support to facilitate teaching, learning and personality development of its future manager sand professionals. Our lecture rooms and computer facilities are well-equipped and we have excellent library resources. Students are encouraged to follow their passion and aspirations when choosing their study
About Commerce Department
The Department of Commerce started with two programmes, namely B.Com (General Stream) and B.Com (Computer Applications), in the year 2015. It comes under the aegis of Kalasalingam Business School (KBS) for the academic year 2017–18. Presently, we are adopting 2021 regulations in curriculum. It inculcates academic excellence, value creation, and social responsibility among the learners. The department has 460 students of high caliber with multi-dimensional personalities. The Department offers five programmes, such as B.Com. (General), B.Com. (Computer Applications), B.Com. (Professional Accounting), B.Com. (Banking & Insurance), and B.Com. (Corporate Secretaryship). These programmes offer understanding in the areas of business organisation, accounting, finance, taxation, marketing, banking, insurance, secretarial practice, financial markets, management information systems, service marketing, multimedia, internet and web technology, and e-retailing. The department has multifarious activities that are linked to industries. It organizes workshops, national and international seminars, webinars, symposium and conferences involving experts from various reputed and recognized institutions and universities.
About Resource person
Dr. Muhammed Rafi OPC is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Trade Policy at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics specialised in international finance from Pondicherry University. Prior to joining IIFT, he was working as Assistant Professor at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar School of Economics University, Bengaluru. Dr. Rafi has been working and interested in the area of open economy macroeconomics, international finance and applied econometrics and has published several articles in highly- regarded academic journals. His teaching interest includes the subjects such as Econometrics, Macroeconomics, International Economics and Development Economics. Dr. Rafi has been resource person for various econometrics workshops for post-graduate students and research scholars, econometrics training programs for IES and ISS officers, and invited speaker on various contemporary issues in economics at various national seminars organized by reputed institutions in the country.
