Industrial Visit by St. Joseph's College, Irinjalakuda to Varavoor Industrial Estate and Vazhani Dam on World Entrepreneur Day

On 21st August 2023, World Entrepreneur Day, 45 second-year BA Economics students from St. Joseph’s College, Irinjalakuda, along with two faculty members, visited Varavoor Industrial Estate and Vazhani Dam. Organized by the ED club and ICC, the trip began at 9 a.m. with a comfortable bus ride, reaching Varavoor around 11 a.m. The visit started with insights into machinery used in stone breaking, followed by a discussion with Mr. Bibin, proprietor of Biji Polycan, about start-up business setup and initial investments. The group observed various machines and learned about plastic production processes.  

The visit included a discussion on the industry’s profitability and its resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Gifts were exchanged as tokens of appreciation. After a warm welcome and a visit to the Department of Industry and Commerce, the group had lunch at Vazhani Dam and explored its surroundings, returning to the college by 4:30 p.m.
